Chainflip Development Update—March 25th 2022
Another fortnight elapses, another update hits the ghost blog.
Progress Since Last Update
Since the last time I penned one of these we’ve been working on quite a few things, the main one being slashing. We’d like to bring slashing conditions into Soundcheck in a few weeks’ time, after launching the leaderboard and allowing all of the current participants to register for their rewards.
We didn’t make a release last time for a few reasons. The main one is that this next release is the biggest update since the start of Soundcheck, and we’re not 100% confident that the staking website / block explorer / entire web stack won’t fall over when we release it. For this reason it probably makes sense to delay the big one until after we’ve wrapped up the incentivised program, after which point we can get back on the wagon of regular releases without worrying about having to provide heaps of support.
We have made some huge updates to the web stack, these are mostly behind the scenes but it should be reflected by increased stability in the staking app. We really want to get these into prod ASAP.
Soundcheck Update
As mentioned, we’re going to forego releases until the leaderboard has been out for a couple of weeks so that the program can be wrapped up, and then we don’t have to worry too much about releasing backwards-incompatible changes. Should make our lives a lot simpler.
Goals for the Next Fortnight
Some quick bullet points detailing the major points that we hope to achieve by the time the next dev update rolls around.
Development Goals
- Release leaderboard / staking app updates
- Implement everything required to turn on slashing
General Thoughts
Keen to get these app-level updates out so that we can get back to shipping Validator software.
Until next time.
